Move your heart, strengthen your life

Your heart is more than just a muscle, it’s your body’s engine. And like any engine, it runs best when it’s cared for. The good news? One of the most powerful tools for heart health is something you can do every day: movement.

From a biokinetics perspective, physical activity directly supports cardiovascular function. Regular movement improves contractility of the heart, enhances stroke volume (the amount of blood pumped per beat), and increases capillary density in working muscles, which improves oxygen delivery. Exercise also enhances the body’s ability to use glucose and regulate cholesterol, lowering the risk of atherosclerosis (plague build-up in the arteries).

Research shows that just 30 minutes of moderate activty most days of the week can lower blood pressure, reduce stress hormones, and improve vascular flexibility, protecting you from long-term cardiovascular disease.

But movement isn’t only about workouts, it’s about lifestyle. Take the stairs, stretch at your desk, go for a walk, or join a group class at the gym. Every step counts towards building a healthier, more resilient heart.

September is Heart Awareness Month, commit to moving more, for your heart, your health, and your future. After all, a stronger heart means a stronger you.
